The new administrative centre project in Brussels is built on the site of the former Parking 58. The 37,000 m² of office space (excluding underground parking) are designed to accommodate 1,500 city officials. The focus is on quality and ergonomics in all the spaces, including the front desks on the ground floor, the public reception areas on the upper floors, meeting rooms and staff offices. In the middle, a large glass cylinder houses two lifts whose role is to take the public to the different floors of the building all the way up to the panoramic roof, thus enhancing the city centre pedestrian experience. The building also houses a 450-space public car park as well as a 109-space staff car park, on four underground levels. The building is fully glazed. This type of façade was chosen on purpose: letting natural light in is essential given the urban environment and the shadows cast by neighbouring buildings.
