The Courthouse (Palais de Justice) is built around a hall (salle des pas perdus), whose magnificent 40 m wide glass roof at a height of 30 m lets in huge amounts of natural light. The building holds 14 courtrooms distributed in the east and west wings, as well as a Criminal Court. The upper floors accommodate offices for court staff and judges who can also reach the courtrooms via a separate, secure access system. A series of patios in-between these rooms let in natural light through large skylights. The underground car park is reserved for staff use. The project meets high energy performance criteria.
