Civil works on the ring of Antwerp
CIT Blaton is part of a consortium involved in the first phase of one of the largest projects of this kind in Europe. This phase aims to improve traffic flow in the western part of Antwerp. Worth € 385 million (out of an overall budget of € 3.25 billion, all phases combined), the contract concerns the municipalities of Linkeroever and Zwijndrecht. Work started in 2018 and should last 5 years.
The entire road network is being redeveloped: a new road connecting the E34 and E17 is being built. Most of the existing structures are set to be demolished and rebuilt. In addition, significant investments are currently being made to create safer cycle paths, noise barriers, ecoducts, etc. A new 500-space Park & Ride car park is also being built to encourage visitors to use public transport to travel to Antwerp city centre.
