The Koekelberg project was a DBM (Design, Build and Maintenance) contract within the framework of the Scholen van Morgen PPP. CIT Blaton selected an architectural firm and an engineering and design firm for the design phase. A subcontractor will maintain the building for 30 years. The project's challenge therefore consisted in coordinating the various partners to meet an unwavering completion date set on 1 September 2018. Other features of this project include:
– fully automated sun protection adapted to the indoor ventilation system.
– the preservation of the existing structure which is visible in certain places and an additional floor on top of the old building, using a steel structure;
– the use of a single product to fireproof exposed ceilings and improve soundproofing.
