The 200,000 m² eco-district project puts emphasis on sustainability: district heating network, soft mobility above ground (underground car park), nature (80% of the site), etc. The 1,325 housing units include conventional apartments, detached houses, kangaroo housing, dwellings with their own workshops and urban lofts. 60,000 m² are earmarked for offices, a hotel, shops, a residence for the elderly and a retirement home.
The project began in mid-2021 with the demolition of the old exhibition halls and road works. Several apartment buildings will be built in 2022 for delivery by mid-2023. The Liège headquarters of Ethias will move to the site in 2024.
