Groene Wandeling
Student housing
Due to the significant increase in the number of students in Ghent, there is a pressing need for high-quality student accommodation. To meet this demand, CIT Blaton, in collaboration with Immogra, is developing a large-scale student resudence with 209 student rooms located along the Nieuwewandeling in Ghent.
This ambitious project, named "Groene Wandeling", aims to create a modern and convivial living space for students, while also contributing to the revitalization of the surrounding neighborhood. The campus consists of two distinct buildings:
- A new building along the Nieuwewandeling: 145 spacious and bright rooms, offering all modern comforts, including a private bathroom and kitchen.
- A new building adjacent to an existing warehouse: 64 additional rooms, ideal for students seeking more budget-friendly accommodation.
Beyond the rooms, the Groene Wandeling campus offers a multitude of common areas and services to promote community life and student well-being:
- Bicycle parking and storage: for practical and secure storage of bicycles and personal belongings.
- Three social rental apartments: to support social diversity and inclusion in the neighborhood.
- Two valuable existing buildings renovated and converted for neighborhood support functions: a lunch bar (breakfast and takeaway), a multipurpose space for events and community activities, etc.
- A public neighborhood park: a landscaped green space for relaxation and recreation for students and neighborhood residents.
- A private micro-forest behind the residences: a natural haven of peace to unwind and connect with nature.
CIT Blaton, renowned for its expertise in building quality housing, is bringing all its know-how to this large-scale project. The company is committed to adhering to the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, thus contributing to a more environmentally friendly environment.
The Groene Wandeling campus is part of a broader vision of sustainable and inclusive urban development. It is a valuable asset for the city of Ghent and its inhabitants, by fostering the creation of a dynamic and mixed-use neighborhood that meets the needs of students and the surrounding community.
