Vilvoorde Depot: BIM modelling

The Flemish community entrusted us with the extension and optimization of an existing archives depot in Vilvoorde. The aim was to create a central depot to store together all the archives and artworks kept in its various entities.

BIM/REVIT modelling was used for the project, from design to implementation. Since it was crucial to have the means to douse a possible fire in this storage facility filled with paper, the sprinkler system was the starting point in positioning a wall, lighting and other HVAC pipes. BIM modelling was therefore very useful in determining the position of these different pipes. At first, significant coordination work was necessary in order to integrate the BIM plans into the architect's own. The modelling subsequently proved to be an essential tool on site to check that the work was done properly.
