CIT Blaton won the contract to renovate the Gent-Sint-Pieters station and especially the tracks 8 to 12, by building 3 viaducts of +/- 3,000 m long. This project was a real challenge: it was necessary to extend the existing platforms and design new implementation techniques so as to disturb rail traffic as little as possible. The train station and its entrances remained operational throughout the works. Only 2 tracks could be closed simultaneously during the works. The delivery of heavy and bulky elements entailed complex logistical work.
